HHS has announced a new payment model that can be used when treating patients during emergency transportation. Called ET3 for emergency triage, treat and transport, this new type of reimbursement is for treating low-acuity patients either in-person or using telehealth to determine the more appropriate and cost-effective setting for the patient. Instead of continuing to an emergency department, the patient may be taken to a doctor's office or urgent care center. CMS plans to release a request for applications in the summer. Learn more.
